Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nate Baker Jr (ranked 4568 p4p, 535 weight class) and Raja Abdullaev (ranked 3795 p4p, 468 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nate Baker Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Raja Abdullaev!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Illya Tyunina and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baker Jr shoots in for a takedown but Abdullaev shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Baker Jr misses with a takedown attempt - Abdullaev sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Oh, that's a big right hand from Abdullaev and Baker Jr goes tumbling to the canvas! Abdullaev follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.


It looks like Nate Baker Jr has been cut.
Well, if Abdullaev is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Baker Jr misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Abdullaev stalling.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Baker Jr wants to control but Abdullaev is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Abdullaev is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Abdullaev stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Baker Jr to get to his feet.

Baker Jr shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Baker Jr showed some decent athleticism there.

Baker Jr is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Abdullaev defends it well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Baker Jr is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Abdullaev sees it coming and defends easily.
Abdullaev keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Baker Jr not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Baker Jr not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Baker Jr is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Abdullaev doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Baker Jr.
Abdullaev regains full guard. Nicely done.
Baker Jr trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Baker Jr drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Abdullaev manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Baker Jr has Abdullaev in his guard.


Abdullaev gets to his feet. Baker Jr looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Abdullaev has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Baker Jr is landing a low percentage of strikes.

and Abdullaev counters with a big uppercut that knocks Baker Jr off his feet! Abdullaev dives into side control looking to finish!


Baker Jr is rocked!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nate Baker Jr. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Oh Baker Jr is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Abdullaev decides to stand up, so the ref orders Baker Jr to his feet.

Baker Jr wants to clinch but Abdullaev slips to the side
and Abdullaev counters with a powerful cross that connects right on the chin and the lights go out! A massive one punch knock out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:10 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Raja Abdullaev!
