Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Scott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Derek McConahan!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McConahan walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.


It looks like Derek McConahan has been cut.

McConahan closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Scott to the mat! Scott manages to get full guard.
McConahan wants to pass the guard but Scott is keeping the position.
McConahan not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Scott is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McConahan slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

McConahan gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Scott tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

McConahan throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Scott was covering up waiting for the punch and McConahan finishes the takedown easily into guard.
McConahan wants to pass the guard but Scott is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Scott has control of McConahan's left arm, preventing McConahan from doing any damage.

McConahan stands up and waves to Scott to follow him.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

McConahan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Scott tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but McConahan paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Scott moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Scott tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. McConahan manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Scott clinches with his opponent.

McConahan pulls guard effortlessly.
McConahan has momentary wrist control but Scott slips an elbow through the middle.

McConahan lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

McConahan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Scott swivels though and keeps the full guard.

McConahan gets to his feet. Scott looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Scott gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
McConahan scoring with some ground and pound.
McConahan pushes down on Scott's leg and manages to get into half guard.
McConahan looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

McConahan is looking for submissions but instead, Scott has regained full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
McConahan controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Scott moves into the clinch.
Scott is looking for a takedown.

McConahan gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Scott regains guard.
McConahan lands a couple of elbows.
McConahan stands up over Scott, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

McConahan is looking for a kimura but Scott is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for McConahan to get the leverage.

McConahan is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

McConahan stands up and beckons Scott to join him on the feet.

McConahan is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Scott's half guard.
Scott is trying to get back to full guard.
McConahan has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
McConahan is thwarting Scott's attempts to control the position.
Scott tries to roll over but McConahan keeps him under control.

McConahan stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Scott avoids the head kick by McConahan.

Scott bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps McConahan's head backwards.
McConahan blocks a head kick by Scott.

McConahan shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. McConahan showed some decent athleticism there.

McConahan is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Scott is just riding it out for now. McConahan eventually gives up the hold.
McConahan is breathing heavily.

McConahan passes to full mount!

McConahan looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Derek McConahan has got the better of the ground game so far.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
McConahan looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

Derek McConahan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Scott's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Scott forces McConahan back against the cage and clinches.

McConahan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Scott decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

McConahan manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Scott keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

McConahan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Scott throws a nice inside leg kick.

McConahan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Scott, pushing him back against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Scott unloads a knee to the mid-section. McConahan lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

McConahan jumps guard and drags Scott to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Scott wants to control from the top but McConahan keeps moving.

McConahan utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
McConahan wants to stand but Scott is controlling the position.
McConahan looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
McConahan is trying to keep Scott in close.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Scott cracks McConahan with a solid left hand.
McConahan looking for a sweep. Not yet McConahan, not yet.
McConahan looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
McConahan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Scott lands a really nice looking cross but McConahan seems unphased.
Scott throws a head kick that McConahan semi-blocks.
A head kick misses from Scott.
McConahan drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Scott defends it well.
McConahan avoids the head kick by Scott.
Scott pulls out of a head kick attempt.
McConahan ducks right into an uppercut from Scott.

McConahan drives through with a takedown into guard.
McConahan won't allow Scott to sweep him here.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Michael Scott.
I think McConahan has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
