Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tom McGettigan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Tumleh Schmitt!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Anni Minnemäki and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schmitt throws a body kick that misses.
A lazy left from McGettigan finds it's target.
Schmitt slips under a jab.
McGettigan fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Schmitt pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
McGettigan throwing a counter right hand but Schmitt manages to avoid it.
McGettigan has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Men Only. No Liberals ! in the buildup to the fight.
Schmitt tries to clinch up
and McGettigan counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.


It looks like Tumleh Schmitt has been cut.
No joy there for McGettigan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
McGettigan looks to throw the jab but Schmitt is out of range.
Schmitt tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
McGettigan throws a hook but Schmitt blocks it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Schmitt takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Schmitt has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Schmitt there as he acknowledges the shot.
McGettigan throws a left and a right that both miss

and Schmitt counters with a single leg into guard. McGettigan didn't expect that.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Schmitt accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McGettigan utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
McGettigan on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if McGettigan tries to get out of the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McGettigan has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Schmitt throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
McGettigan is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Schmitt thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Schmitt has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Schmitt keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of McGettigan's head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Schmitt stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McGettigan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
McGettigan wants to sweep but no luck.

Schmitt is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
McGettigan is adopting a defensive guard.
Schmitt missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Schmitt throwing strikes but missing.
Schmitt trying to control but McGettigan is working from the bottom.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Schmitt stops McGettigan from standing up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McGettigan throws a right hand that Schmitt ducks under and follows up with a left that Schmitt also avoids with ease.
Schmitt fails with a takedown attempt.
Schmitt misses the body punch
and McGettigan counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
McGettigan throws an overhand right that lands on Schmitt's shoulder, as Schmitt tries to avoid the shot.
Tom McGettigan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
McGettigan's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and McGettigan duly obliges.

Schmitt scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Schmitt decides to return to a standing position.
Schmitt throws a right and a left that both miss.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Schmitt misses with a double jab.

McGettigan connects with a nice looking jab.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Schmitt tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
McGettigan swinging wildly here.
McGettigan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Schmitt was well out of range. Poor timing from McGettigan.
A head kick by Schmitt misses
and McGettigan counters with a straight right hand.
Schmitt misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
McGettigan keeps the fight on the outside.
Schmitt just misses with a punch to the body.
Schmitt looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Schmitt tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Schmitt closes the distance and clinches.
McGettigan cracks Schmitt with a nice body shot.
Schmitt looks winded!
Schmitt pushes McGettigan back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Schmitt struggles to land a body shot inside as McGettigan controls his hands.

McGettigan breaks from the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tom McGettigan dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Tumleh Schmitt's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!


Schmitt misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
McGettigan is looking to counter punch.
Schmitt throws a series of punches but McGettigan moves out of range.
Schmitt looks to land a combination but McGettigan avoids it well.
Schmitt throws a sloppy head kick and McGettigan moves out of range easily.
A low kick from Schmitt misses

and McGettigan counters with a nice right hand that sends Schmitt toppling to the canvas! Schmitt scrambles and gets back to his feet - can McGettigan finish him?!

and McGettigan counters with a beautiful right hand that knocks Schmitt out cold! What a finish! McGettigan is going crazy, running around the mat, summersaulting off the corner posts and screaming into the cameras. Something tells me he's pretty happy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Tom McGettigan!
