PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hercule Poirot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Madoka Yuhara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yuuki Gou.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poirot tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Poirot gets caught flat footed, as Yuhara shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Yuhara stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Poirot swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Yuhara thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Yuhara trying to control but Poirot is working from the bottom.
Yuhara wants to pass the guard but Poirot is keeping the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Yuhara drops back looking for a leg! Poirot is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Poirot manages to kick Yuhara off! Yuhara jumps back into Poirot's guard.

Yuhara is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Yuhara stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Poirot swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Poirot throws a head kick that misses.
Yuhara circles away from the clinch attempt.
Yuhara closes the distance and clinches up with Poirot, looking for a takedown. Yuhara pushes Poirot against the cage but Poirot circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Yuhara shoots in but Poirot avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Yuhara looks gassed!
Poirot tries to clinch there but Yuhara circles away.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Poirot stuffs the takedown.
Hercule Poirot has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Madoka Yuhara.
Poirot throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Yuhara's head.
Yuhara is looking to clinch but Poirot is avoiding it.

Poirot breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Poirot could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Poirot lands with a kick to the temple. Yuhara shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Hercule Poirot seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Yuhara slips under a jab.
Poirot tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Yuhara shoots in for a takedown but Poirot shows good takedown defense.
The fight stays on the outside here - Poirot looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Poirot thumps Yuhara with a low kick.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Yuhara shoots in for a double leg but Poirot sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Poirot throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Yuhara closes the distance and clinches.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Yuhara closes the distance and clinches up with Poirot, looking for a takedown. Yuhara pushes Poirot against the cage but Poirot circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Yuhara displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Poirot throws out the jab.
Yuhara changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Poirot tries to avoid it but Yuhara manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Poirot to the ground. Poirot escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Yuhara shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Poirot but Poirot pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Poirot goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Yuhara has his takedown stuffed
and Poirot counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Yuhara walks forward, straight into a front kick from Poirot.
Poirot tries to clinch but Yuhara is having none of it.
Yuhara misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

A telegraphed right hand from Poirot misses the target.
Poirot misses with a hook.
Yuhara has his takedown stuffed
and Poirot counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Yuhara is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Poirot throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Yuhara.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Poirot lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Madoka Yuhara has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Hercule Poirot is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Poirot, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
