PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Trent Carter (ranked 5743 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dom Strach (ranked 6415 p4p, 665 weight class). Carter comes to the cage accompanied by Nas - Nas Is Like. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Konstantin Menshow and Sergei Dronov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The crowd cheers as Carter lands an impressive looking overhand right. Strach doesn't seem phased though.

It looks like Dom Strach has been cut.
Strach takes one on the button.
Carter connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Carter connects with a body shot that sends Strach's belly button to the back.
Carter lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Carter shoots for a takedown but Strach saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Carter tests Strach's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Strach closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Strach dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Carter. That did some damage!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Carter throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Strach's waist but Strach gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Carter off to one side.
Strach stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Strach wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Trent Carter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Carter cracks Strach with a right hand to the side of the head.
Strach throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Strach takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Strach has Carter up against the cage in a clinch.
Carter wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Strach has him pressed against the cage.

The referee calls for Strach to work.
Strach throws a punch but it's blocked by Carter.
Strach just leaning against Carter, taking a breather.
Strach tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Strach stalling against the cage.
Carter is looking to break free of the clinch but Strach has double underhooks.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Strach escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Carter catches Strach with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

That has opened up Dom Strach's cut even more.
Strach gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Carter dips to his left and cracks Strach with an uppercut!

Strach closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Carter to the mat! Carter manages to get full guard.
Carter wants to stand but Strach is controlling the position.
Strach works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Strach stops Carter from getting back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Strach seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Strach throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Strach lands strikes from half guard.
Carter is breathing heavily.
Carter has hold of Strach's hands but Strach slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Strach performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Strach's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Strach slips a nice elbow through Carter's hands, connecting with Carter's forehead.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Strach sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Carter keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Strach is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Strach throws a hook to the side of Carter's head but Carter sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Carter connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Strach moves into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Trent Carter will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Dom Strach's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!

Strach loads up on a big right hand but Carter slips the punch.
Carter throwing a counter right hand but Strach manages to avoid it.
Trent Carter is winning the standup battle so far.

Strach gets the takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Strach advances to mount.
Carter knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Strach on the ground.
Carter wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Strach.
Strach landing strikes from the mount.
Strach takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Carter is in a horrible position here. Strach smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Carter is rocked!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Carter takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Oh Carter is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Strach is landing with some decent strikes but Carter is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
