PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Dawson (ranked 1973 p4p, 70 weight class) and Hamish McTavish (ranked 1398 p4p, 53 weight class). Dawson kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Titanic theme. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jack Dawson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hamish McTavish!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dawson closes the distance but McTavish moves to the side

and McTavish counters with a nice double leg into side control. Dawson won't be happy with that.
McTavish trying to control the position but Dawson is working away.
Dawson definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
McTavish looks up at the clock and then as Dawson takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, McTavish smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
McTavish is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Dawson's shoulder. That is not cool.
McTavish working the head with strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McTavish wants to control but Dawson is keeping him busy.
Dawson wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
McTavish cracks Dawson with a big right hand but Dawson just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Dawson wants to control but McTavish postures up.
McTavish wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dawson keeps working.
Dawson is working to avoid the ground and pound but McTavish connects with a decent elbow.
Dawson can't do much from the bottom here.
McTavish trying to control the position but Dawson is working away.
McTavish cracks Dawson with a big right hand but Dawson just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Dawson is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McTavish lands a nice forearm strike.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
McTavish trying to control the action but Dawson is working from the bottom.
McTavish has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Dawson is trying to control McTavish's posture but McTavish avoids it.
McTavish moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Dawson takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
McTavish is putting a hurting on Dawson here, landing some big shots from side control.
McTavish is looking to take a break and control but Dawson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

McTavish lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Dawson down.
McTavish connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Dawson some visible discomfort.

McTavish cracks Dawson with an elbow. That is naaassty.
McTavish controls the position.
Dawson can't do much from the bottom here.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

McTavish wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Dawson, who protects the arm well.
Dawson is trying to get back to half guard.

Dawson is working to avoid the ground and pound but McTavish connects with a decent elbow.

Dawson is rocked!
McTavish lands a strong strike to the head of Dawson. That's dazed him! McTavish looking to finish here. Dawson is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - McTavish lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hamish McTavish!
Hamish McTavish bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
