Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alonso Holland (ranked 24454 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Brooks (ranked 5872 p4p, 0 weight class). John Brooks will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alonso Holland!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Brooks!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brooks scores with a takedown into Holland's guard.
Brooks's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Brooks trying to control the position from guard on top but Holland is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Holland might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Brooks looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Holland with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Brooks is looking to take a break and control but Holland is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Brooks looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Holland is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Brooks jumps into side control!

Brooks looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Holland tries to roll over but Brooks keeps him under control.

Holland goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Brooks is on top in guard.

Brooks dives in and grabs Holland's left leg, looking for a takedown. Holland pushes down on Brooks's head and hops out.

Alonso Holland has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Brooks.
Brooks goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Holland gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Brooks.

Brooks is trying to trip Holland. He has hold of a leg but Holland is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Brooks persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Holland is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Brooks presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Holland's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Holland is looking to clinch but Brooks is avoiding it.

Holland has his hands on Brooks's head, controlling the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Brooks preventing the sweep.
Brooks with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Brooks seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Holland controls Brooks momentarily but Brooks frees himself.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

John Brooks comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Brooks has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
