Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joe Melton (ranked 5804 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eduardo Pires (ranked 4431 p4p, 0 weight class). Eduardo Pires told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

3 - 2 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Eduardo Pires!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Konstantin Menshow and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Melton gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Melton will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Melton looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Pires throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Melton works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Melton is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pires sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Melton escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pires gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Pires trying to control the position from guard on top but Melton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Pires drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Pires seems to have locked his on tight now - Melton screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Pires, as he picks up the win!
