Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brian McBride (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brian McBride has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brian McBride!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Phil Jones!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Elvis Blanc and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones misses with a double jab.
McBride looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

McBride gets caught flat footed, as Jones shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Jones decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
McBride avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Jones throws a combination. McBride tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Jones looks for a takedown but McBride sprawls well.

Jones fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. McBride sprawls well initially but Jones persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Jones passes the guard and advances to mount!
Jones tries to control but McBride wriggling away.

Jones with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

McBride is squirming around, avoiding Jones's attempts to control the action.

Jones has hold of McBride's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and McBride manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
A nice elbow there by Jones.

Jones looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

McBride tries to hold on but Jones postures up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Despite being in the dominant position, Phil Jones just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Jones takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Jones lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
McBride just misses with a punch to the body.
Jones misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Jones throws a nice looking combination but McBride bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Jones misses with a wild combination.
Jones will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Jones throws a right hand that McBride ducks under and follows up with a left that McBride also avoids with ease.
McBride fails with the takedown.

Jones shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Jones looking to control but McBride is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

McBride doesn't manage to clinch there - Jones circles away.
Jones closes the distance and clinches up with McBride, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes McBride against the cage but McBride circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Jones tries to close the distance and clinch but McBride swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
A nice inside leg kick there by Jones. That's going to slow McBride down.
McBride shoots for a takedown but Jones saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Jones lands a nice shot that snaps McBride's head back.
McBride tries to clinch but Jones is having none of it.

McBride is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jones doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time McBride.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

and McBride counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by McBride.

and McBride counters with a nice body shot.
Jones rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but McBride moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Jones doesn't succeed with the takedown

and McBride counters with a single leg into guard. Jones didn't expect that.

Brian McBride showed his dominance in that final round.
