Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Elijah Jarvis (ranked 5983 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hamm Derr (ranked 5982 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Elijah Jarvis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Hamm Derr!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Marco Blurström and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Derr shoots for a takedown but Jarvis saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Jarvis feinted with a counter takedown.
Nice shot lands for Jarvis.

Derr shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jarvis is trying to defend but Derr finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Derr prevents Jarvis from standing back up.
Derr tries to pass to full mount but Jarvis defends it.
Jarvis wants to control but Derr is keeping busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Derr seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Derr not doing much here.
Jarvis wants to get back to his feet.

Jarvis tries to get to full guard but Derr has control of the leg.

Derr is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jarvis defends it well.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Jarvis is trying to stand up here but Derr is controlling him well.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Derr looks to land a combination but Jarvis avoids it well.
Jarvis is trying hard to land a takedown here. Derr sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Derr jumps guard but Jarvis turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Derr gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Derr is keen to just control but Jarvis is a slippery customer.
Jarvis has hold of Derr's hands but Derr slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Jarvis won't allow Derr to pass to mount.
Jarvis has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Derr is working away from the top position though.
Jarvis could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Derr content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jarvis lunges at Derr with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Derr's hand.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Derr misses with a takedown attempt - Jarvis sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hamm Derr dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Jarvis keeps the fight on the outside.
Derr tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Derr is looking to clinch.
Derr has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Derr pushes Jarvis up against the cage in a clinch.
Derr is looking for a takedown.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Derr. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Jarvis creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
With the fighters up against the cage, Jarvis throws an elbow but misses.

Derr turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Jarvis is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Derr asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Derr landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Derr wants to stand but Jarvis is controlling his arm.
Jarvis wants to get back to his feet but Derr drags him back down.
You can see the frustration on Jarvis's face as Derr controls the position.
Jarvis managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Derr.

Jarvis is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Derr is controlling him well.
Derr is putting a hurting on Jarvis here, landing some big shots from side control.
Jarvis is pushing Derr's head away, looking to escape. Derr manages to hold on to the position though.
Jarvis regains half guard there - taking advantage of Derr's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Derr is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Jarvis looks like he's trying to stand up.
Jarvis on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Jarvis slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Derr postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jarvis is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Derr, into his guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Derr is on top in guard.

Derr tries to free his leg and advance position but Jarvis is retaining full guard.
Derr lands a couple of digs.
Derr trying to control the position from guard on top but Jarvis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Derr is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Jarvis wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Derr trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Jarvis manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Derr is trying to control the position but Jarvis postures up.
Derr is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jarvis is doing well to control the position and prevent Derr from advancing to side control.
Jarvis wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hamm Derr showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Jarvis leaves Derr with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Derr throws a series of punches but Jarvis moves out of range.
Jarvis was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Derr shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jarvis fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Derr manages to avoid it.
Jarvis fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Derr on the side of the head.
Hamm Derr is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Elijah Jarvis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hamm Derr.

Derr moves into the clinch successfully.

Jarvis crunches a lovely knee into Derr's ribcage.
Derr has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Jarvis is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Derr takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Jarvis pulls guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jarvis scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Derr pushes Jarvis up against the cage in a clinch.
Derr looking to throw knees to the head but Jarvis is blocking nicely.
Derr tries to pull guard but Jarvis forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Derr is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Jarvis is defending well for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Derr tries for a takedown but Jarvis manages to get underhooks.
Jarvis misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Derr blocks an uppercut.
Jarvis looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Derr looking for a takedown.
Jarvis jumps guard but Derr stands there with Jarvis around his waist. Jarvis gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Jarvis is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Jarvis has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Derr uses from the top position.

Jarvis wants to stand up but Derr is controlling him.
Jarvis keeping moving, preventing Derr from controlling successfully.
Derr distracts Jarvis with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Jarvis is pulling down on Derr's head to control his posture.
Derr tries to free his leg and advance position but Jarvis is retaining full guard.
Derr wants to control from the top but Jarvis keeps moving.
Derr engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jarvis seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Jarvis's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Derr keeps trying to improve his position.
Jarvis wants to stand and escape but Derr is having none of it.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Elijah Jarvis showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Derr has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
