PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Eugenio Dillon (ranked 7189 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Bonner (ranked 6390 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eugenio Dillon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, David Bonner!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Ben Hemmingworth and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bonner drives through and clinches with Dillon against the cage.
Bonner blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Bonner misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Bonner pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Bonner rushes Dillon and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Dillon tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Bonner's elbow.

Dillon pulls guard effortlessly.
Bonner controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Bonner landing with the ground and pound.
Bonner trying to control the position from guard on top but Dillon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bonner working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Bonner seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Bonner in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Bonner throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Bonner is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dillon is on top in guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bonner controls Dillon momentarily but Dillon frees himself.
Bonner has momentary wrist control but Dillon slips an elbow through the middle.
Dillon in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Bonner working for submissions but it's allowed Dillon to get to half guard.

Bonner on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Bonner is trying to maintain the position but Dillon is very close to passing his half guard.
Bonner manages to get to full guard.
Dillon throws a big elbow that misses.
Bonner has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Bonner controls Dillon momentarily but Dillon frees himself.

Bonner looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dillon is one step ahead there.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Dillon scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Bonner bucks up and tries to throw Dillon off but instead Dillon has got his back!
Bonner is trapped and Dillon is scoring with shots to the head and body.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dillon scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
Bonner prevents Dillon from getting a body triangle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dillon shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Bonner is trying to defend but Dillon finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Dillon lands a nice short elbow.
Bonner tries to roll over but Dillon keeps him under control.
Dillon scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Dillon knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bonner on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dillon really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Bonner is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.
Bonner is in all sorts of trouble here.
Eugenio Dillon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Dillon with a couple of short strikes.
Dillon is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bonner can do to turn this around?
Bonner takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Bonner is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Bonner gets back to half guard.
Dillon lands strikes from half guard.
Dillon throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Dillon stands up and beckons Bonner to join him on the feet.

Dillon closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Bonner is breathing heavily.
Bonner is looking to improve his position.
Bonner keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Dillon stops Bonner from getting back to his feet.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Dillon connects with a nice short shot to Bonner's temple.
Bonner is trying to stand back up but Dillon is controlling him

Dillon working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Bonner's head.
Bonner throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Dillon makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Dillon will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Dillon works over Bonner with some ground and pound from guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eugenio Dillon dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Dillon tries to keep at a distance but Bonner has taken the fight into the clinch.

Dillon turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Dillon manages to end up in side control.

Dillon swings around for an armbar but Bonner sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Dillon's guard.

Dillon is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Bonner won't allow Dillon to sweep him here.
Bonner is looking to stand up but Dillon won't let him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bonner not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Dillon keeping moving, preventing Bonner from controlling successfully.
Bonner wants to stand but Dillon has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Dillon looking for a sweep. Not yet Dillon, not yet.
Bonner advances position into side control!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Dillon is trying to control Bonner's posture but Bonner avoids it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Bonner content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Bonner is looking to take a break and control but Dillon is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Bonner fails with a takedown attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Bonner forces Dillon back against the cage and clinches.

Dillon manages to pull guard.
Bonner sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Dillon's guard.
Bonner is keen to just control but Dillon is a slippery customer.
Still in half guard, Bonner seems content to control.
Bonner wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dillon keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bonner content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Dillon scores with a few weak punches.
Bonner is keen to just control but Dillon is a slippery customer.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Bonner closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dillon is trying to get back to half guard.

Bonner stands up and beckons Dillon to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
David Bonner comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Dillon has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
