Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Raphael Lima (ranked 6102 p4p, 0 weight class) and Haste Day (ranked 6078 p4p, 534 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Raphael Lima!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Haste Day!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Daniel Franklin and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Day lands with a kick to the temple. Lima shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Day misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Lima shoots in and gets a takedown into Day's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Lima tries to free his leg and advance position but Day is retaining full guard.
Lima controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Lima looking to pass the guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lima trying to control the position from guard on top but Day is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lima might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Lima pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Day is keeping the position for now.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Day can do anything to dispel that myth.

Day is trying to control the position but Lima postures up.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Day is on top in guard.


Day avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Lima looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Day pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lima is keeping the position for now.
Day throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lima works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Lima can't keep his opponent in guard - Day advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Lima is looking to control Day's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lima avoid being mounted?

Day is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Lima doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Day.
Lima wants to control but Day is keeping busy.
Day working Lima over with strikes.
Day wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lima keeps working.

Lima is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Day pulls his head out easily.
Day wants to stand but Lima has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Day prevents Lima from improving his position.
Lima regains full guard. Nicely done.

Lima looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Day has picked Lima up and slammed him! Lima can't keep hold of the triangle and Day manages to pass to side control!
Lima tries to buck Day off but Day is having none of it.
Lima is not content to let Day control the position.
Day working away.

Lima sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Lima is looking to control Day's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lima avoid being mounted?

Day is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Lima sees it coming and defends easily.

Lima is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Day pulls his head out easily.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Day is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Day is trying to control the action in half guard but Lima is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Haste Day dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Lima shoots in for a takedown but Day shows good takedown defense.
Day is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Lima with a body shot.
Lima shoots for a takedown but Day saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Day closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lima to the mat! Lima manages to get full guard.

Lima has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Day can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Day has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Lima is proving hard to escape from.

Lima is looking for a triangle but Day pushes his legs off easily.
Day trying to control but Lima is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lima working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Day has passed into half guard!
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Day lands a nice short elbow.

Lima looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Lima tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Day has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Lima regains half guard.
Lima tries to get to full guard but Day has control of the leg.
Lima is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Day's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Day's back!

Day is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Day defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
Day surviving as best he can, preventing damage.

Lima is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Day knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Day for a finish.

Lima controlling well, preventing Day from escaping the position.

Lima is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Day is defending well though. Lima let's go of the attempt for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Day is trying to defend against the choke here but Lima has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Lima Tightens the hold and Day taps out furiously! Lima displays superior BJJ to win the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Raphael Lima!
