Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lamar Allen (ranked 2394 p4p, 224 weight class) and Segey Taranin (ranked 1929 p4p, 185 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lamar Allen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Segey Taranin!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Sano and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taranin connects with a single shot there.
Taranin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Allen scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Taranin has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Taranin throws a looping overhand right but Allen ducks down to avoid it.
Allen was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Taranin checks a leg kick nicely.
Taranin misses with a right hand
and Allen counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Taranin gets a takedown into half guard.
Taranin tries to pass the half guard into mount. Allen knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Allen is trying to maintain the position but Taranin is very close to passing his half guard.

Allen is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Taranin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Allen does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Allen stuffs the takedown.
Allen feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Allen takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Allen tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Taranin was well out of range. Poor timing from Allen.
Allen swings for the body but Taranin moves out of range.
Allen takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
A slow jab from Taranin misses its intended target.
It looked like Allen wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Taranin shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Allen defends it nicely.
Lamar Allen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Segey Taranin.

and Allen counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

and Allen counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Taranin on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

and Allen counters with a nice kick to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Allen ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

and Taranin counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Allen!

A close round but Segey Taranin will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Allen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Taranin moves away.
Allen scores with a jab.
Allen keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Allen has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.


It looks like Lamar Allen has been cut.
Taranin throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Taranin slips a jab and a cross from Allen.
Taranin takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Taranin gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Allen fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Taranin blocks a body shot from Allen.

Taranin swings wildly with an uppercut but Allen uses good head movement to avoid it.
Allen throws a punch but it's blocked by Taranin.

Taranin is trying to pull guard but Allen has him pressed against the cage.

Allen tries a body shot but Taranin blocks it.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Taranin creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Allen tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Taranin can't get the takedown.
Lamar Allen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Segey Taranin.
Allen's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Taranin wants the takedown. Allen is fighting it off but Taranin persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Allen's guard against the cage.

Allen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Allen is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

That was a close second round but I would say that Lamar Allen will probably get the nod.

Taranin shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Allen is trying to defend but Taranin finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Taranin lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Taranin walks into a stiff left hand from Allen.

Taranin throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Allen was covering up waiting for the punch and Taranin finishes the takedown easily into guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Taranin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

I think Taranin has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
