Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jones showed some decent athleticism there.
Slova makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Slova.

Slova had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Jones is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Slova Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Jones's back instead.

Jones is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Slova off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Oooh a big shot gets through from Slova. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Jones breaks Slova's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Jones drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jones jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Slova throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Jones.
Benny Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Slova throws a push kick but Jones slaps the foot to one side.

Slova decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Slova cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Slova lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Slova has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Jones's face.
Jones looks gassed!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Slova trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Slova is landing with some decent strikes but Jones is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Slova moves into the clinch successfully.
Slova is pressed up against the cage. Jones has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Slova down to the mat. Slova avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Jones is working for takedown but Slova is calmly controlling the position for now.

Slova doesn't manage to clinch there - Jones circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Slova looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jones with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Slova stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jones can't keep his opponent in guard - Slova advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Slova throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Slova lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Jones wants to improve his position but Slova is controlling well.
Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Slova. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Slova landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Dimitry Slova overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Slova working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Slova winds up and cracks Jones with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Jones takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Slova's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
