Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Royal Vasquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gunjan Worldly!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Josh West and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Worldly closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Vasquez looking to stall.
Worldly keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Vasquez's efforts to push away.
Vasquez is looking to break free of the clinch but Worldly has double underhooks.

Worldly manages to break the clinch.

Worldly looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Vasquez tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Vasquez really is a fat lump.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Worldly stops Vasquez from standing up.
Vasquez throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Worldly has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Vasquez is trying to keep an underhook but Worldly manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Vasquez kicks Worldly off and gets back to his feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

A frustrated look appears on Vasquez's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Worldly slowing the pace effectively.

Worldly has hold of one of Vasquez's legs. Vasquez is fighting the takedown attempt but Worldly gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Worldly must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Vasquez working for submissions but it's allowed Worldly to get to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vasquez keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Worldly seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Vasquez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Vasquez wants to improve his position but Worldly is controlling well.
Worldly stalling.
More stalling from Worldly.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Worldly is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Vasquez is just riding it out for now. Worldly eventually gives up the hold.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gunjan Worldly dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Worldly tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Vasquez drops down looking for a counter takedown but Worldly sprawls and moves away.
Worldly misses with a series of wild punches.
Worldly lands with a straight right. Vasquez didn't see that one coming.


It looks like Royal Vasquez has been cut.

Worldly has Vasquez up against the cage in a clinch.

Worldly pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Worldly shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Worldly works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Worldly is thwarting Vasquez's attempts to control the position.
Worldly has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Vasquez is looking for a sweep. Worldly is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Worldly stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Worldly darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Vasquez wants to control but Worldly is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Worldly decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Vasquez clinches up with Worldly and pushes him back against the cage.
Vasquez has had enough of the clinch but Worldly keeps him there for the moment.

Worldly breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Worldly gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Worldly escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Vasquez using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Worldly has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Vasquez throws a punch but it's blocked by Worldly.

Vasquez wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Worldly has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Vasquez clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Worldly missing with punches from the back.
Worldly not allowing Vasquez to control his hands.

Worldly working for a choke but Vasquez is defending well.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Worldly is not going to allow Vasquez to sit and survive in this position.

Worldly looking for the choke but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gunjan Worldly showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Worldly moves into the clinch successfully.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Worldly as Vasquez tries to tie him up.
Vasquez takes an elbow to the forehead.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Vasquez's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Vasquez tries to clinch but Worldly is having none of it.

Worldly closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Vasquez did well to prevent Worldly getting side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Worldly with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Vasquez blocking the ground and pound attempt from Worldly.
Vasquez is staying active underneath Worldly, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Worldly perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Worldly postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Vasquez to stand up.
Vasquez tries for a takedown but Worldly circles away easily

and Worldly moves into the clinch.

Worldly jumps guard and drags Vasquez to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Worldly is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Worldly trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Worldly is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Vasquez is fighting to break Worldly's control of his arms but Worldly is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Let's hope that Worldly has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Worldly has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Vasquez off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Worldly.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Worldly thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Worldly decides to stand back up. Worldly steps back and let's Vasquez get back to his feet.

Worldly looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Vasquez!
Worldly is looking to take a break and control but Vasquez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Worldly is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Vasquez's shoulder. That is not cool.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Vasquez controls the position for a moment.
Royal Vasquez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Gunjan Worldly is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Vasquez is looking for a sweep.

Gunjan Worldly comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Worldly has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
