Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rudi Dassler (ranked 289 p4p, 46 weight class) and Archie Moore (ranked 407 p4p, 65 weight class). Archie Moore acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 17 - 0, fighting out of London, Rudi Dassler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Archie Moore!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moore throws a push kick but Dassler slaps the foot to one side.
Archie Moore seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Moore, right into the meat.
Dassler misses with a takedown attempt - Moore sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Moore has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Moore throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Dassler sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Moore dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Dassler. That did some damage!
Moore lands with a nice body kick.

Dassler scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Moore sneaks out the side door and pushes Dassler away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Moore misses the body punch

so Dassler counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Dassler drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Moore manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Dassler has Moore in his guard.


Moore got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dassler has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Moore has managed to get both his arms back between Dassler's legs - danger averted.

Dassler had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Moore defends it easily.

Archie Moore is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Moore throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Dassler stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Dassler looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Dassler has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Moore after a bit of a struggle.

Moore swings for the body but Dassler moves out of range.
It looked like Dassler was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
A jab from Moore does it's job there.

and Moore counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Moore throws the left hand but Dassler avoids the punch easily.

Dassler changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Moore slaps away a takedown attempt from Dassler, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Dassler misses with a takedown attempt - Moore sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
It seemed like Moore was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Moore throws the left hand but Dassler avoids the punch easily.
Nice takedown defense from Moore. No joy for Dassler on that attempt.

Moore closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Moore tries to land knees in the clinch but Dassler avoids the damage to the body.
Dassler jumps guard but Moore turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Dassler drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dassler throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Moore is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Dassler is looking for a kimura but Moore is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dassler to get the leverage.

Dassler throws a big right hand that misses.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Moore looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Dassler stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Moore swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Dassler postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Moore is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Dassler, into his guard.


Dassler has an active guard here but Moore has managed to pass into half guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Archie Moore has got the better of the ground game so far.
Moore wants to stand up but Dassler has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Dassler tries to roll over but Moore keeps him under control.
Moore seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
The fighters are battling for position here. Dassler manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Dassler throws his legs up looking for a submission but Moore uses it to pass to side control.
Dassler tries to buck Moore off but Moore is having none of it.
Moore has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Dassler is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Moore's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Dassler takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Moore scores with a hook to the body. Dassler takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Dassler tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Moore swivels and escapes.
Moore cracks Dassler with a right hand to the side of the head.
Moore scores with the left hand. Dassler knows he should have avoided that one.

Archie Moore showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

and Dassler counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Dassler.
Dassler postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Moore manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dassler manages to get himself to full guard.

Moore wants to get up but he can't break Dassler's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dassler isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Moore stacks Dassler on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Moore!
Dassler tries to bench press Moore off him but Moore keeps the position.

Dassler gets back to half guard.

Moore decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Dassler steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Moore.

Moore clinches up with Dassler and pushes him back against the cage.
Dassler jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Moore walks away with a smile on his face. Dassler gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Dassler counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Dassler.
Dassler is looking to advance position but Moore has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!


Moore gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

No luck with that takedown attempt from Dassler.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rudi Dassler. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Moore throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Moore has taken the fight to the clinch.
Moore throws a knee to the head but misses.
Dassler is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Moore pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Moore gets underhooks to prevent Dassler's takedown attempt.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Moore breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Dassler ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

and Dassler decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Moore's guard.

Dassler drops back, looking for a kneebar! Moore looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Moore looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Moore!

Moore is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Dassler is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Moore decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Moore scores with a punch to the head.
Moore just misses with a punch to the body.
Good leg kick by Moore there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Archie Moore is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Moore throws out a powerful jab.
Moore throws a shot from downtown. Dassler moves away and avoids it.
Dassler attempts a counter takedown but Moore avoids it well and moves away.
Dassler shoots in for a takedown but Moore shows good takedown defense.
Moore misses with a hook. Dassler ducked under it nicely.
Moore moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Dassler shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Moore sprawls well. Moore wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dassler gets slowly back to his feet.
Moore throws an overhand right that lands on Dassler's shoulder, as Dassler tries to avoid the shot.

Archie Moore comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Moore has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
