PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tommi Turmiola (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Power (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Power keeps the fight on the outside.
Turmiola throws a right and a left that Power avoids nicely.

Power has Turmiola up against the cage in a clinch.
Turmiola wants to get back to striking at distance but Power won't allow it.

Power's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Power shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Turmiola pinned against the cage. Turmiola gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Turmiola is looking to clinch but Power is avoiding it.
Turmiola takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Power shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Turmiola but Turmiola pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Turmiola bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Power's guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Power is on top in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Turmiola had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Power is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Turmiola Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Power's back instead.
Power really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Turmiola. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Turmiola is not going to allow Power to sit and survive in this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Power is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Turmiola looking to break Power's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Power remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Turmiola will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Turmiola escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Power gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Power seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Turmiola has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Power can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's time! Turmiola's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Turmiola takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Power tries for a takedown but Turmiola sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Turmiola has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Power is working away from the top position though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Turmiola misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Power throws a sloppy head kick and Turmiola moves out of range easily.

Power is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Turmiola is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Turmiola has escaped and now he's on top!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Max Power is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Power drops back looking for a leg! Turmiola is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Turmiola manages to kick Power off! Power jumps back into Turmiola's guard.
Turmiola wants to control the position but Power says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Power is stalling here. Turmiola is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Power seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Turmiola has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
