Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Grey (ranked 3580 p4p, 442 weight class) and Antonio Medina (ranked 3963 p4p, 475 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mike Grey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Antonio Medina!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Winston Howard and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Grey gets a takedown into half guard.
Medina scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Grey manages to mount him!
Grey tries to control but Medina wriggling away.
Grey tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Medina really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Grey thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Grey won't let Medina get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Medina sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Grey is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Medina is staying active underneath Grey, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Medina trying to hold on to Grey's head to control him but Grey postures up.
Medina is trying is best to control the position here.
Grey thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Medina's head.

Grey decides to stand and escape the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Grey fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Medina, pushing him back against the cage.
Grey stalling against the cage.
Grey throws a knee to the head but misses.

Grey turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Grey manages to end up in side control.
Grey tries to move to mount but Medina blocks the move with his legs.
Grey working away.
Grey lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Medina down.
Medina wants to get back to his feet but Grey drags him back down.
Grey looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Medina is looking to regain half guard here but Grey keeps moving and retains side control.
Medina is not content to let Grey control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Medina is pushing Grey's head away, looking to escape. Grey manages to hold on to the position though.

Grey is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Medina knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Grey trying to control the action but Medina is working from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Medina regains half guard, as Grey was trying to land strikes.

Grey is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Medina is just riding it out for now. Grey eventually gives up the hold.
Medina is trying to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Grey dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Grey works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Grey stands up out of the half guard.

Grey gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Medina is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Grey is keeping busy.
Medina lands an elbow inside that Grey shrugs off.


It looks like Mike Grey has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Medina working hard to break the clinch.
Grey stalling in the clinch.
Medina tries to land a knee to the head but Grey blocks with his arms.
Medina jumps guard but Grey stands there with Medina around his waist. Medina gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Medina gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Grey.

Medina tries to score a body lock takedown but Grey shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Grey jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Medina walks away with a smile on his face. Grey gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
No joy there for Medina, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Medina throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Grey closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Grey lands in his opponent's guard.
Medina not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Grey is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Medina can do to turn this around?
Grey pushing down on Medina's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Medina is trying to control but can't.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Grey wants to free his trapped foot but Medina is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Grey trying to control from half guard but Medina is working away.
Medina tries to kick Grey off but Grey keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Grey is working for a submission of some sort.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Grey connects with a nice short shot to Medina's temple.
Medina is not content to let Grey control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mike Grey overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Grey performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Medina misses with a leg kick

and Grey counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Grey stops Medina from getting back to his feet.
Grey thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Grey is trying to control. Medina wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Grey is trying for a kimura here. Medina looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Grey wins by kimura!
