Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Santo Luvic (ranked 6292 p4p, 418 weight class) and Cati Sli (ranked 6219 p4p, 413 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are George Francis, Robert Twigg and Chris Downing.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sli shoots in but Luvic avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Sli goes for a double leg but Luvic avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Luvic continues to drive forward.

Luvic looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Luvic controlling the pace.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Luvic tries to stand and escape but Sli is controlling the position.
Luvic thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sli's head.

Luvic content to control rather than advance.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Sli tries to roll over but Luvic keeps him under control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Luvic throws a solid leg kick but Sli takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Luvic.
Sli moves in looking to clinch but Luvic pushes him off.

Luvic shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Luvic prevents Sli from improving his position.
Luvic content to control rather than advance.

Sli wants to get back to full guard.
Sli is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Luvic perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Luvic wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sli keeps working.
Luvic seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Sli tries to roll over but Luvic keeps him under control.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Sli is looking to clinch but Luvic is avoiding it.
No luck for Luvic with that takedown attempt.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Luvic.
Luvic defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sli.
Luvic tried to counter with a leg kick but Sli avoided it.
Santo Luvic has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cati Sli.

Despite the aggression on Sli's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Sli changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Luvic leaves Sli with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Luvic looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sli is fending him off so far but Luvic persists. Nope, Sli circles away and we're back to standing.
Sli misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Luvic appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Sli throws a front kick aimed at Luvic's knee but Luvic avoids it well.
Sli shoots for a double leg takedown but Luvic sprawls well. He's pushed Sli's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Luvic throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Luvic is looking to counter the offense by Sli and move into the clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Sli fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Luvic avoids it really well and circles away.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Sli tries to score a power double leg takedown but Luvic sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sli somewhat.
Luvic lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

Luvic closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Luvic lands in his opponent's guard.

Sli jumps guard but Luvic turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Sli blocks a body shot from Luvic.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Luvic.
Luvic jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Sli walks away with a smile on his face. Luvic gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Sli scores with a three punch combo!

Luvic shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Sli has one foot on Luvic's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Sli lands a head kick. Luvic smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Luvic gets a clinch.

Sli manages to break the clinch.

Luvic darts in and clinches Sli up against the cage.
Luvic is trying to pull guard but Sli has him pressed against the cage.

Luvic jumps guard and drags Sli to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Sli engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Luvic seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Sli seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Sli got a little sloppy there for a moment and Luvic has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sli has managed to get both his arms back between Luvic's legs - danger averted.

Sli is fighting to break Luvic's control of his arms but Luvic is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Luvic gets to mount! Sli was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Luvic is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sli can do to turn this around?
Luvic seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Sli is holding on tight.
Sli manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Luvic uses his free foot to push down on Sli's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Sli.

Sli is trying to escape the mount.
Sli wants to control but Luvic is having none of it.
Luvic lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Sli wants to hold on but Luvic pushes him away.
Luvic can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sli is looking to escape.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Luvic takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
