Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Claud Snow (ranked 8114 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derrick Jones (ranked 4007 p4p, 0 weight class). Derrick Jones will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Claud Snow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Derrick Jones!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Chad Campbell and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab lands there for Jones.

Jones gets a takedown into half guard.

Snow looking for a kimura from the bottom but Jones passes into side control!
Snow is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Snow is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Snow is looking to get back to full guard here but Jones has managed to pass to side control instead.

Snow tries to roll over but Jones keeps him under control.

Jones throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Snow is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Snow shoots in for a takedown but Jones shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A left lands for Jones.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Jones gets to mount! Snow was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Jones sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Snow looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Jones has picked Snow up and slammed him! Snow can't keep hold of the triangle and Jones manages to pass to side control!

Jones postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Snow tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jones wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Snow is trying to improve his position.
Jones is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Snow is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Jones is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Jones has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Snow is squirming around, avoiding Jones's attempts to control the action.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Snow manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Jones decides to stand and escape the position.
Snow fails with the takedown
and Jones counters with a nice uppercut.

Jones drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Snow tries to bench press Jones off him but Jones keeps the position.
Jones tries to advance to mount but can't.
Jones has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Jones misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Jones postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Snow tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Jones presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Derrick Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Jones in particular looking to stall.

Jones has control of Snow's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Snow regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Jones is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Snow tries to improve his position but instead Jones has taken his back!

Jones is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Snow with him. Snow is trying to defend but Jones has an arm under the chin now! Snow grimaces and is forced to tap out!
