The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stroev fails in his attempt to clinch.
Gerou lands with a cross.
Stroev wants to clinch up but Gerou keeps it at a distance.
Stroev misses with a body shot.
Stroev dives in and grabs Gerou's left leg, looking for a takedown. Gerou pushes down on Stroev's head and hops out.
Stroev has a takedown stuffed.
Gerou with the counter takedown but Stroev avoids it easily.
Stroev wants to clinch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Stroev is defended easily by Gerou.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gerou closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Stroev did well to prevent Gerou getting side control.
Gerou looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Gerou seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Stroev has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gerou is working away from the top position though.

Gerou lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Stroev on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Stroev tries to get out of the position.
Gerou wants to take a breather but Stroev is having none of it.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Gerou lands a nice short elbow.
