Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Barry Martinez (ranked 24476 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Johnson (ranked 6202 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Barry Martinez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Martinez is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Johnson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like Johnson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Martinez is working an open guard so Johnson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Martinez slaps away a takedown attempt from Johnson, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Johnson gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Johnson lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Johnson stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Martinez to get to his feet.

Martinez lands with a punch from half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Martinez with the ground and pound but Johnson uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Martinez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Johnson on the ground.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Johnson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Martinez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Martinez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Johnson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Martinez is aware though and is defending well.
Martinez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Johnson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Johnson is looking to cinch up a triangle. Martinez throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Johnson's body to avoid the submission. Johnson has instead reached around Martinez's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Johnson arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
