Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lionel Pitts (ranked 24231 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Warren (ranked 6073 p4p, 521 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lionel Pitts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jason Warren!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Hugh Johnson and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Warren closes the distance and clinches.
Pitts goes for a takedown in the clinch but Warren prevents it.

Warren pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Warren drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Pitts bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Warren shoots in but no luck this time.
Pitts keeps the fight on the outside.
Pitts drops down looking for a counter takedown but Warren sprawls and moves away.
Warren misses with a takedown attempt - Pitts sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Warren closes the distance and clinches up with Pitts, looking for a takedown. Warren pushes Pitts against the cage but Pitts circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Pitts wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

Warren got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pitts has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Warren has managed to get both his arms back between Pitts's legs - danger averted.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Horrible takedown attempt by Pitts or perhaps it was just good defense by Warren, which made it look bad.
Warren tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Pitts fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Pitts is looking to take this one to the mat.
Warren pushes Pitts back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Warren is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Pitts is defending well.
Pitts changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Warren fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Pitts turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Pitts manages to end up in side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Pitts lands a nice short elbow.

Pitts working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
