Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Andy Bogard (ranked 3687 p4p, 393 weight class) and Ma Moru (ranked 4526 p4p, 462 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andy Bogard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ma Moru!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moru throws a right hand that Bogard ducks under and follows up with a left that Bogard also avoids with ease.
Bogard misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Bogard misses with a double jab.
Andy Bogard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Moru swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Bogard shoots in and gets a takedown into Moru's guard.
Moru wants to stand but Bogard is controlling the position.
Bogard wants to pass the guard but Moru is keeping the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Moru is looking to stand up but Bogard isn't so interested in that idea.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Moru keeping moving, preventing Bogard from controlling successfully.

Moru scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Moru's corner calls for a 1-2. Moru obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Moru misses with a series of wild punches.
Moru misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Bogard.
Moru has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Bogard is landing a low percentage of strikes.
That kick from Bogard tenderised Moru's leg. Moru is trying to keep his angry face on.
Bogard misses with a double jab

and Moru counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Moru.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bogard fails to pull guard.
Moru blocking some punches.
Bogard tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andy Bogard. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice elbow from Moru.
Bogard has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Bogard tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Moru just stands there and leans against the cage.
Moru scores with a shot to the side of Bogard's head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Bogard jumps guard.

Bogard is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Moru defends well.
Moru wants to stand but Bogard has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Bogard controls Moru momentarily but Moru frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Moru is looking to stand up but Bogard won't let him.

Moru has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Bogard is proving hard to escape from.
Bogard is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Moru wants to get up but he can't break Bogard's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Bogard is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Moru frees his head nicely. Oh but Bogard has switched to an armbar! Moru is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Armbar). Andy Bogard!
