PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Street Fighter (ranked 366 p4p, 43 weight class) and Tony Bunker (ranked 789 p4p, 90 weight class). Fighter comes to the cage accompanied by You Know How I Do It. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice leg kick lands there from Fighter.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Bunker.
Bunker moves out of range of the strikes.
And Bunker responds with a good body kick, but Fighter manages to step out the way in time.
Bunker swings for the body but Fighter moves out of range.
Bunker shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

and Bunker counters with a straight right hand.
Fighter throws a shot from downtown. Bunker moves away and avoids it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Bunker. Fighter does a little dance to reset his feet.

That kick from Bunker tenderised Fighter's leg. Fighter is trying to keep his angry face on.

Bunker swings wildly with an uppercut but Fighter uses good head movement to avoid it.
I was talking to Fighter's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Fighter tries to work over Bunker's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Fighter pushes Bunker back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Bunker throws a head punch that misses.
Fighter's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Street Fighter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bunker has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Bunker there as he acknowledges the shot.

Fighter tries to sprawl but Bunker drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Bunker missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fighter is holding on to half guard well.
Bunker working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Bunker is thwarting Fighter's attempts to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Street Fighter will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

That was a close second round but I would say that Street Fighter will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Street Fighter showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Fighter, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
