Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Qun Curry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Saku Vippera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Qun Curry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Saku Vippera!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Ivan Kurochkin and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vippera gets a clinch.
Curry is pressed up against the cage. Vippera has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Curry down to the mat. Curry avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
A nice combination there by Curry.
Curry throws a series of punches but Vippera moves out of range.

Vippera scores with a takedown into Curry's guard.
Vippera is stalling in the full guard.
Vippera trying to control the position from guard on top but Curry is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Vippera pushes down on Curry's leg and manages to get into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vippera wants to take a breather but Curry is having none of it.
Vippera is taking a breather. Curry says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Vippera seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Curry does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Vippera wants to work for an arm triangle but Curry is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Vippera not doing much here.

Vippera seems to be looking for submissions.
Vippera is thwarting Curry's attempts to control the position.

Vippera is looking to advance position but Curry won't allow it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Vippera is looking to land body kicks.
Vippera uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Curry.
A swing and a miss from Curry.
Vippera looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Curry is fending him off so far but Vippera persists. Nope, Curry circles away and we're back to standing.

Curry tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Curry misses with a head kick.

Vippera closes the distance and clinches.
Vippera tries to pull guard but Curry won't allow it.
Qun Curry has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Saku Vippera.
The referee calls for Curry to work.
Curry is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Vippera goes for a takedown attempt but Curry pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Vippera closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Curry to the mat! Curry manages to get full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Curry keeping moving, preventing Vippera from controlling successfully.
Curry wants to sweep but no luck.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Saku Vippera dominated that round.
That's time! Curry's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Curry connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Vippera shoots in but Curry avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Curry lands with a cross.
Curry lands a jab to Vippera's midsection.
Vippera will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Curry is looking to chop away at Vippera's legs.
Vippera tries a head kick but it misses.
Curry avoids the head kick by Vippera.
Curry throws a combination. Vippera tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Vippera drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Vippera misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Curry avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Vippera.
Curry is trying to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vippera advances nicely into full mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Vippera throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Vippera takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Vippera unloads with some shots from mount but Curry bucks and avoids them well.
Vippera controlling the pace for now.
Curry is squirming around, avoiding Vippera's attempts to control the action.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Vippera tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Let's hope that Vippera has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Curry is squirming around, avoiding Vippera's attempts to control the action.
Vippera thowing shots but they're missing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Saku Vippera showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Vippera has managed to clinch.

Vippera gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Vippera looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Vippera seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Curry is not content to let Vippera control the position.
The fighters are battling for position here. Curry manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Vippera gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Vippera shoots for a double leg takedown but Curry sprawls well. He's pushed Vippera's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Vippera gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Curry fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Curry.
Vippera looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Curry throws a series of punches but Vippera avoids them all with ease.
Vippera looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Curry is fending him off so far but Vippera persists. Nope, Curry circles away and we're back to standing.
Qun Curry has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Saku Vippera.
Vippera looks for a takedown but Curry sprawls well.

Vippera moves into range and clinches up with Curry.

Vippera breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Vippera throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Curry's waist but Curry gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Vippera off to one side.
Curry throws a nice looking combination but Vippera bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Vippera fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Curry throws a leg kick that misses.
Qun Curry is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Curry has had enough of the clinch but Vippera keeps him there for the moment.
Qun Curry has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Vippera manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Vippera pulls Curry in close to prevent any damage.

Vippera pushes a forearm under Curry's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Curry is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:01 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Saku Vippera!
