PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Erin Riley (ranked 25321 p4p, 0 weight class) and Justice James (ranked 6038 p4p, 618 weight class). Justice James told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Erin Riley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Justice James!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James walks forward, straight into a front kick from Riley.
Nice defenses there by Riley.
James misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Riley fails in his attempt to clinch.
Riley lets loose with a powerful body kick. James will feel that in the morning.
A slapping leg kick lands for Riley.
Riley could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Riley defending well as James loads up on a big left hand.
Riley leaves James with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Riley tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but James was well out of range. Poor timing from Riley.
Riley scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. James doesn't seem bothered though.

That's one minute gone in the round.

James gets the takedown into side control.
Riley is being controlled here.

James thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Riley pushes James away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, James gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

James working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

James is trying to get an arm triangle but Riley is defending well.
Riley can't do much from the bottom here.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

James wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Riley, who protects the arm well.
Riley tries to bench press James off him but James keeps the position.

James has an Americana. Riley didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! James is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if James hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Justice James!
