Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bill Newton (ranked 2161 p4p, 260 weight class) and Diego Lupertazzi (ranked 1784 p4p, 220 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Bill Newton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Diego Lupertazzi!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Bruno Lombardi and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newton lands with a nice body punch.

Lupertazzi tries to sprawl but Newton drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Newton passes the guard and advances to mount!
Newton wants to control the pace but Lupertazzi is squirming around nicely.
Lupertazzi wants to control but Newton is having none of it.
Lupertazzi is desperately trying to improve his position but Newton has a good base and remains in mount.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Newton is on top in guard.

Newton tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Newton has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Newton thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lupertazzi throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Newton sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Newton is trying hard to land a takedown here. Lupertazzi sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Newton has closed the distance and engaged Lupertazzi in a clinch.
Newton has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Lupertazzi is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Newton has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Lupertazzi after a bit of a struggle.

Lupertazzi tries to throw a body punch but Newton avoids it by throwing Lupertazzi back against the cage.

Lupertazzi manages to break the clinch.
Newton changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lupertazzi tries to avoid it but Newton manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lupertazzi to the ground. Lupertazzi escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Newton feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Lupertazzi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Newton gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Newton stands and throws Lupertazzi's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Bill Newton overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Newton, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
