PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Roberto Sanchez (ranked 5287 p4p, 0 weight class) and Albashan Magomedrasulov (ranked 6099 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Roberto Sanchez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Albashan Magomedrasulov!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchez throws a series of strikes that have Magomedrasulov backpedaling.
Magomedrasulov shoots in looking for a takedown but Sanchez manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Magomedrasulov's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Magomedrasulov manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Sanchez on his heels. He'll look to pass Sanchez's guard now, I'm sure.
Magomedrasulov won't allow Sanchez to get back to his feet.

Sanchez is looking for a triangle but Magomedrasulov pushes his legs off easily.
Sanchez is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Magomedrasulov working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Magomedrasulov has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Sanchez is proving hard to escape from.

Magomedrasulov is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Magomedrasulov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sanchez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Sanchez enables Magomedrasulov to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sanchez manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Magomedrasulov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sanchez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Sanchez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Sanchez is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Magomedrasulov defends it well.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

That was a close second round but I would say that Roberto Sanchez will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Magomedrasulov can do anything to dispel that myth.
