And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 16 - 0, fighting out of London, Vitaly Karelin!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

It looks like Brenden Abbott has been cut.
Karelin has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Abbott misses with a looping left.
Karelin tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Karelin takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.


It looks like Vitaly Karelin has been cut.
Karelin misses the shot to the body.
Karelin lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Karelin drives through with a takedown into Abbott's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Abbott accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Karelin shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Abbott manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

A close round but Vitaly Karelin will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Karelin looks to land a right hand but Abbott moved out of range.
Abbott is looking to score with low kicks.
Karelin misses with a body shot.
And Abbott counters with a quick kick to the body but Karelin blocks it.
Abbott throws a looping overhand right but Karelin ducks down to avoid it.
Karelin let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Karelin misses with an uppercut.
A little feinted left hand from Abbott on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Abbott misses with a leg kick

and Karelin counters with a nice double leg into side control. Abbott won't be happy with that.
Karelin in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Abbott looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Karelin turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vitaly Karelin!
