Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aslan Smagulov!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Ivan Kurochkin and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smagulov forces Schwartz back against the cage and clinches.

Smagulov drives through and clinches with Schwartz against the cage.

Smagulov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Smagulov slaps away a takedown attempt from Schwartz, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Smagulov shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Schwartz is looking to escape.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Smagulov is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Schwartz doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Smagulov.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Smagulov takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Schwartz pushes Smagulov off looking to stand but Smagulov dives back in and keeps control.
Schwartz is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Smagulov is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Schwartz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smagulov tries to avoid it but Schwartz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smagulov to the ground. Smagulov escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Smagulov shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Schwartz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Smagulov has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Schwartz is trying to keep an underhook but Smagulov manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Smagulov in particular looking to stall.

Schwartz manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Smagulov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Still in half guard, Smagulov seems content to control.

Well Smagulov has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
