Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tadashi Katsumoto (ranked 4566 p4p, 0 weight class) and Suayngarm Pumphanmuang (ranked 7625 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Tadashi Katsumoto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Suayngarm Pumphanmuang!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Katsumoto uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pumphanmuang.
Pumphanmuang tries to clinch but Katsumoto is having none of it.
Pumphanmuang shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Katsumoto as he jumps to the side.
Katsumoto shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Pumphanmuang drives through and clinches with Katsumoto against the cage.

Katsumoto escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Pumphanmuang looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Katsumoto looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Katsumoto forces Pumphanmuang back against the cage and clinches.

Katsumoto escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Pumphanmuang gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Katsumoto counters with a one-two to the body.
Tadashi Katsumoto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Suayngarm Pumphanmuang.

and Pumphanmuang counters by moving into the clinch.

Pumphanmuang appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Katsumoto is breathing heavily.
Pumphanmuang has a takedown stuffed.
Katsumoto was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Pumphanmuang misses with the combination.

and Pumphanmuang counters with a one-two to the body.
Katsumoto scores with a shot to the body.
Pumphanmuang tries a head kick but it misses.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Katsumoto shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Pumphanmuang but Pumphanmuang pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Katsumoto trying to control the position but instead, Pumphanmuang has worked for underhooks and has pushed Katsumoto into the cage.

Katsumoto wants to break the clinch but can't.
Pumphanmuang keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Katsumoto's efforts to push away.
Katsumoto looking for a takedown.
Katsumoto lands a right hand that snaps the head of Pumphanmuang backwards.

Pumphanmuang gets control of Katsumoto's arms and successfully pulls guard. Pumphanmuang will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Katsumoto is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Suayngarm Pumphanmuang will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Pumphanmuang throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Katsumoto's waist but Katsumoto gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pumphanmuang off to one side.
Katsumoto goes for a double leg but Pumphanmuang avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Pumphanmuang continues to drive forward.
Pumphanmuang unleashes a big counter combination but Katsumoto bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Katsumoto works Pumphanmuang's body with a nice hook.

Pumphanmuang moves into range and clinches up with Katsumoto.
Katsumoto tries to pull guard but Pumphanmuang won't allow it.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tadashi Katsumoto. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Pumphanmuang's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Pumphanmuang shoots in for a takedown but Katsumoto shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Pumphanmuang dives in and grabs Katsumoto's left leg, looking for a takedown. Katsumoto pushes down on Pumphanmuang's head and hops out.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Pumphanmuang breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Katsumoto displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Pumphanmuang.

Pumphanmuang defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Katsumoto.
Pumphanmuang tries to score a power double leg takedown but Katsumoto sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Pumphanmuang somewhat.
Pumphanmuang shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Katsumoto as he jumps to the side.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Katsumoto pushes Pumphanmuang up against the cage in a clinch.
Katsumoto has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Pumphanmuang is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Pumphanmuang wants a takedown but no success here.
Katsumoto stalling the fight.
Katsumoto tries to pull guard but Pumphanmuang won't allow it.

Pumphanmuang has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Katsumoto can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Katsumoto sitting in guard, not really doing much.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Katsumoto accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Katsumoto wants to stand but Pumphanmuang is controlling his posture from full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Katsumoto postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
No luck for Katsumoto with that takedown attempt.
Pumphanmuang showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Katsumoto.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Pumphanmuang feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Katsumoto is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Pumphanmuang dives into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Suayngarm Pumphanmuang showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Katsumoto darts in looking for a takedown but Pumphanmuang gets double underhooks and turns Katsumoto into the cage.
Pumphanmuang drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Katsumoto defends it well.
Tadashi Katsumoto is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Pumphanmuang shoots for a double leg takedown but Katsumoto sprawls well. He's pushed Pumphanmuang's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Katsumoto dives in for a single leg takedown but Pumphanmuang sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Pumphanmuang slaps away a takedown attempt from Katsumoto, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Katsumoto closes this distance looking for a takedown but Pumphanmuang circles away.

Pumphanmuang's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Katsumoto fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Pumphanmuang slaps away a takedown attempt from Katsumoto, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Pumphanmuang darts in and clinches Katsumoto up against the cage.

Katsumoto shoots in for a takedown but Pumphanmuang shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Katsumoto has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Pumphanmuang uses from the top position.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Katsumoto.
Tadashi Katsumoto has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Suayngarm Pumphanmuang is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Katsumoto misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

And that's the end of the fight!
Suayngarm Pumphanmuang comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Pumphanmuang has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
