Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leonardo Davincio (ranked 4134 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maunu Tua (ranked 4650 p4p, 0 weight class). Maunu Tua has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Leonardo Davincio!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Maunu Tua!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Bart Greer and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tua scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Davincio doesn't seem bothered though.
Tua connects with a crisp jab.

Davincio shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Tua napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Tua stops Davincio from passing to mount.

Davincio decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Davincio misses with a takedown attempt

and Tua counters with a big uppercut that knocks Davincio off his feet! Tua dives into side control looking to finish!


Davincio is rocked!


It looks like Leonardo Davincio has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
You can see the frustration on Davincio's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Tua is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Davincio's shoulder. That is not cool.
Tua trying to control the position but Davincio is working away.
Tua gets to mount! Davincio was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Davincio bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Davincio is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Tua is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Davincio is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Davincio is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Tua has managed to free his arm - good work.

Davincio is working for a submission of some sort.
Davincio is pressing down on Tua's thigh, looking to free his foot. Tua is holding on for now.
Tua is refusing to be controlled, as Davincio sits in half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Tua is looking to improve his position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Davincio takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
We've been informed that Tua has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Davincio fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Davincio takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Tua lands a body shot.
Tua lands a lovely overhand right.

Davincio feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Davincio closes the distance and clinches up with Tua, looking for a takedown. Davincio pushes Tua against the cage but Tua circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Tua fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Tua has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Davincio bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Davincio fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Leonardo Davincio overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Tua tries to improve position but can't.
Tua is breathing heavily.

Davincio stands up.
Nice straight punches there by Tua. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Tua.
Tua moves into range and connects with a jab.
Danga de danga de dang - Tua scores with a four punch combination!

Davincio fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Tua, pushing him back against the cage.

Davincio has clasped his hands together around Tua's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Tua wants to control but Davincio postures up.
Davincio tries to advance to mount but can't.
Davincio lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Tua down.
Tua tries to bench press Davincio off him but Davincio keeps the position.
Davincio looks up at the clock and then as Tua takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Davincio smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Tua is not content to let Davincio control the position.
Tua tries to buck Davincio off but Davincio is having none of it.

Davincio decides to stand up, so the ref orders Tua to his feet.
Davincio darts in looking for a takedown but Tua gets double underhooks and turns Davincio into the cage.
Tua throws a counter combo.
Tua throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Tua throws an overhand right that lands on Davincio's shoulder, as Davincio tries to avoid the shot.
Davincio lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Tua circles away quickly and effectively.
Some wild striking there from Tua.

Davincio moves into the clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Leonardo Davincio will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Tua lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Davincio at a distance.

Tua clinches up with Davincio and pushes him back against the cage.

Davincio decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Tua, up you get!
Davincio goes for a double leg but Tua avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Tua continues to drive forward.
Leonardo Davincio seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tua cracks Davincio with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Tua connects with a crisp jab.

Tua changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Davincio tries to avoid it but Tua manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Davincio to the ground. Davincio escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Tua takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Davincio shoots for a takedown but Tua saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Tua doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.

Davincio has Tua pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Davincio pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Tua tumbling to the mat - Davincio dives into Tua's guard.

Tua working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Davincio doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Davincio manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Tua is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Davincio works his way into full mount!

Davincio has hold of Tua's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Tua manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Davincio gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Davincio stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Tua to get to his feet.
Tua's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Tua duly obliges.

Davincio is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Tua's half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Tua tries to roll over but Davincio keeps him under control.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Leonardo Davincio.
I think Davincio has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
