The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

King closes the distance and clinches.
King wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Gatlin has him pressed against the cage.
King will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Gatlin up against the cage.
King has Gatlin pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Gatlin manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

King lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Gatlin backs up against the cage.

and Gatlin counters with a leg kick.

King tries to score a body lock takedown but Gatlin shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Gatlin manages to break the clinch.
King throws a nice looking combination but Gatlin bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

King throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gatlin's waist but Gatlin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing King off to one side.

Gatlin avoids a punch combination nicely.
Gatlin looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? King is fending him off so far but Gatlin persists. Nope, King circles away and we're back to standing.
King will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

King throws a right and a left that both miss.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round but I would say that Konnan King will probably get the nod.

Gatlin feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to King's calf.

and Gatlin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
King fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Nice straight punches there by King. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of King.
Gatlin is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by King.

King takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
King shoots in but no luck this time.

King is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Gatlin scores with a couple of nice shots.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
and Gatlin counters with a body kick that stops King in his tracks momentarily.
King tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
King connects with a nice cross there... Gatlin is looking wobbly and King recognises it - he's rushed in and lands two more brutal shots that send Gatlin to the canvas, out cold! A brutal finish to the fight - King jumps onto the cage to celebrate with the crowd!
