The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cornell looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Pakhomov is not content to let Cornell control the position.

Cornell seems to be working for a kimura but Pakhomov defends the submission attempt.
Pakhomov is refusing to be controlled, as Cornell sits in half guard.

Cornell looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cornell wants to pass to mount but Pakhomov is defending the position.

Cornell is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
We've been hearing good reports from Pakhomov's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Cornell trying to mount his opponent but Pakhomov defends it.
Cornell looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Cornell is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Cornell seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Pakhomov does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pakhomov is doing well to control the position and prevent Cornell from advancing to side control.

Cornell maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Pakhomov could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Cornell has cracked it and Pakhomov is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Cornell!
