Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Billie Benjamin (ranked 6117 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucio Angulo (ranked 3843 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benjamin scores with a head kick.
Angulo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Benjamin as he jumps to the side.

and Angulo counters with a three punch combo that has Benjamin backing up. Benjamin nods at Angulo to acknowledge the strikes.

Benjamin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Angulo looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Angulo can do anything to dispel that myth.
Angulo is looking to regain half guard here but Benjamin keeps moving and retains side control.

Angulo sneaks out the side door and pushes Benjamin away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Angulo tries to sprawl but Benjamin drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Angulo dives in and grabs Benjamin's left leg, looking for a takedown. Benjamin pushes down on Angulo's head and hops out.

Benjamin gets to his feet - Angulo follows without any prompting.
Benjamin displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Angulo.
Benjamin tries to score a power double leg takedown but Angulo sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Benjamin somewhat.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Benjamin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Benjamin lands in his opponent's guard.
Angulo is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Benjamin dives into side control.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Benjamin shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Angulo's guard.

Benjamin went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Benjamin circles away from the clinch attempt.
It looked like Benjamin was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Angulo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Benjamin swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Benjamin stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Benjamin wants it to stay on the feet.

Benjamin wants the takedown. Angulo is fighting it off but Benjamin persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Angulo's guard against the cage.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Angulo enables Benjamin to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Angulo manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
