PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Triad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sterling Milner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Milner's choice of entrance music: Wanted Dead or Alive. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johnny Triad!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sterling Milner!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Donatello Bradman and Winston Howard.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Milner looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Milner misses with a jab, cross combination.
Triad has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Milner finds it's way round the side to connect with Triad's head.
A big right from Milner misses.
Milner throws a series of punches but Triad avoids them all with ease.
Milner fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Triad tries to clinch up but Milner circles away and keeps his distance.

Triad shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Triad showed some decent athleticism there.
Milner is trying to control but can't.
Milner keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Triad stalling.
Triad is trying to control the action in half guard but Milner is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Triad is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Milner defends it well.
Milner wants to improve his position but Triad is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Milner scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Triad manages to mount him!
Milner looks gassed!

Triad content just to control the position here.
Milner's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Milner is squirming around, avoiding Triad's attempts to control the action.
BOOM! Triad connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Triad gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Triad throws a head kick but Milner moves out of range.

Triad feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Milner can do anything to dispel that myth.
Milner wants to control the position but Triad says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Triad content to control rather than advance.
Triad winds up and cracks Milner with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Triad works his foot free and advances to mount.

Triad has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Triad trying to control but Milner is having none of it.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Milner tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Triad looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Milner covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
