Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Spider Machida!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Steve Erwin and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ortega throws a sloppy head kick and Machida moves out of range easily.
Machida catches Ortega with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
It looks like Kent Ortega has been cut.

Ortega throws a series of punches but Machida moves out of range.
Machida feints and as Ortega raises his hands in defense, Machida changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Machida drops back looking for a leg! Ortega is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ortega manages to kick Machida off! Machida jumps back into Ortega's guard.
Machida works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Machida is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Machida looking to control but Ortega is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Machida cracks Ortega with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Machida throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Machida wants to control the pace but Ortega is squirming around nicely.
Ortega on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Ortega tries to get out of the position.
Machida with shots to the head and body - Ortega looks very uncomfortable down there.
Ortega wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Machida.
Machida tries to control but Ortega wriggling away.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Ortega is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Machida has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Machida sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
