Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Ricket (ranked 5170 p4p, 508 weight class) and Goreshade King (ranked 24685 p4p, 644 weight class). Ricket comes to the cage accompanied by One Foot. Goreshade King has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ricardo Ricket!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of New York, Goreshade King!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

King decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Ricket manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Ricket throws a head kick but King moves out of range.
Ricket looks to land a right hand but King moved out of range.
King bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
King is trying hard to land a takedown here. Ricket sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Ricket tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ricket throws a sloppy head kick and King moves out of range easily.
King avoids the head kick by Ricket.
King changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

King shoots in looking for a takedown but Ricket manages to keep the fight standing, pushing King's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Ricket dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on King. That did some damage!

King is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ricket is just riding it out for now. King eventually gives up the hold.

and Ricket cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ricket's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
King shoots in looking for a takedown. Ricket tries to sprawl out of it but King keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ricket manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Ricket pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ricket fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt King.

King changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ricket tries to avoid it but King manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ricket to the ground. Ricket escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Ricket misses with the combination.
Ricket tries a head kick but it misses.
King has a takedown stuffed.
Ricket slaps away a takedown attempt from King, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Ricket misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

King shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ricket defends it nicely.

Ricket shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. King manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

King has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Ricket has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


King is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

King shoots for a takedown but Ricket saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Goreshade King is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
King moves out of range of the strikes.
King shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ricket sprawls well. Ricket wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. King gets slowly back to his feet.

Ricket throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
King shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ricket is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that King can do to turn this around?

King working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

King shoots in looking for a takedown. Ricket tries to sprawl out of it but King keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ricket manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

King tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ricket defends well and King ends up having to push Ricket into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

King chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Ricket can pounce on him.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Ricket throws out a loose jab but King uses good head movement to avoid it.
Ricket wants to slow King down by chopping away at his legs.

Ricket shoots in and bounces King off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

King has his feet on Ricket's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
King darts in looking for a takedown but Ricket gets double underhooks and turns King into the cage.

Ricket is really struggling to find his range with his punches. King's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.

King drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and King jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
King takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Ricket wants to stand up but King is controlling him.

King lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Ricket tries to kick King off in order to stand up. King Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
King wants to control but Ricket is keeping him busy.
King advances nicely into full mount.
King trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Goreshade King has got the better of the ground game so far.
King lands a couple of good shots and Ricket has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
King has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
King lands with a hammerfist to the side of Ricket's head.
King has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Ricket's body.
Ricket might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
King tries to keep control of the position but Ricket is staying busy.

Ricket trying to get back to his feet but King is in full control for now.

King working for a choke but Ricket is defending well.
Ricket is covering up but some of the strikes from King are getting through and doing damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ricket is trying to get back to his feet but King has full control of the position and if anything, Ricket has just worked his way into a worse spot.
King wants to control the position but Ricket frees himself and scrambles - King manages to regain control in side control.
Ricket is trying to get back to his feet.
King has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Ricket!

King has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Ricket's face.

King won't let Ricket get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
King lands a heavy elbow.
Oh Ricket is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

King working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Ricket turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips King off and cradles Ricket's limp body as King celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Goreshade King!
An out of breath Goreshade King thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
