Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matthias Holmstrom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jerry Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shields shoots in looking for a takedown. Holmstrom tries to sprawl out of it but Shields keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Holmstrom manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Shields shoots in for a takedown but Holmstrom shows good takedown defense.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Shields swats away the attempt to clinch by Holmstrom.
Holmstrom fails with an attempt to clinch.

Holmstrom clinches up with Shields and pushes him back against the cage.

Holmstrom breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Shields circles away from the clinch attempt.
Holmstrom takes a swing at Shields's ribcage but misses.

Shields drives through and clinches with Holmstrom against the cage.

Shields gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Holmstrom escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Shields gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Shields won't allow Holmstrom to get back to his feet.
Shields lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Shields is looking to work some ground and pound but Holmstrom has wrist control.
Holmstrom manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Shields manages to get himself to full guard.
Holmstrom wants to stand but Shields has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Holmstrom gets to his feet - Shields follows without any prompting.

Holmstrom stuffs the takedown attempt from Shields. Shields gets slowly back to his feet.
Matthias Holmstrom has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jerry Shields.
Holmstrom throws a right and a left that both miss.
Holmstrom doesn't manage to clinch there - Shields circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Holmstrom looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Shields tries to close the distance and clinch but Holmstrom swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Shields misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Shields tries for a takedown but Holmstrom sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Holmstrom jabs Shields right on the nose. Shields blinks but takes it well.

It looks like Jerry Shields has been cut.

Holmstrom lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Shields backwards.
Holmstrom prevents a takedown attempt there.
Holmstrom lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Shields.
Holmstrom lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Holmstrom has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Shields doesn't defend quickly enough and Holmstrom has managed to lock this one up! Can Shields escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Holmstrom on a fantastic submission victory.
