PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Timothy Page (ranked 6061 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gabor Boraros (ranked 25823 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Timothy Page!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gabor Boraros!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Marco Blurström and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boraros looks for the body kick but Page saw that one coming.
Page feinted with a counter takedown.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Page enables Boraros to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Page manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Page trying to control the position here.
Page looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Boraros trying to control the position from guard on top but Page is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Boraros accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boraros looking to sit in guard and control but Page gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Page really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Page is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Page passes into half guard.
Boraros really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Page. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Page decides to stand up.
Page shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Boraros sprawls well. Boraros wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Page gets slowly back to his feet.

Boraros closes the distance and clinches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Page is trying to break the clinch but Boraros is controlling him.

Boraros ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Boraros no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Page drops back looking for a leg! Boraros is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Boraros manages to kick Page off! Page jumps back into Boraros's guard.
Boraros is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Page has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Boraros is proving hard to escape from.
Boraros has control of Page's left arm, preventing Page from doing any damage.

Page gets to his feet. Boraros looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
A nice inside leg kick there by Page. That's going to slow Boraros down.

Boraros shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Boraros is looking to take a break and control but Page is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Boraros wants to work for an arm triangle but Page is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Page kicks off Boraros and gets to his feet.

Boraros shoots in and bounces Page off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Boraros wanted to stand there but Page had control of the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Timothy Page will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Boraros throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Page tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Boraros is in Page's guard.

Page has his feet on Boraros's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Boraros feints and as Page raises his hands in defense, Boraros changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Page is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Page is looking for a kimura but Boraros is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Page to get the leverage.
Boraros is looking for a sweep. Page is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Boraros trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Page lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Boraros hang on?
Page raining down hammerfists from mount.
Page lands with some strikes.
Boraros is looking to get to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boraros reaches up to try and control the position but Page seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Boraros rolls and tries to escape and now Page has his back!

Boraros is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Page gets his way!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Boraros is really stuck here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Page pushes Boraros away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Boraros gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Page manages to get back to half guard.
Boraros controlling the pace.
Boraros is keen to just control but Page is a slippery customer.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boraros stops Page from getting back to his feet.
Boraros is looking to pass Page's guard but actually Page recovers to full guard.
Page wants to sweep here but Boraros controlling him for the moment.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Page is on top in guard.

Page wants to stand but Boraros is controlling his posture from full guard.
Boraros tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Page is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Page stands up from Boraros's guard - Page perhaps looking for a knockout.
Boraros scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

Boraros stuffs the takedown.

Page shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Boraros's guard.
Page sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Boraros has Page pulled in close to control his posture.
Boraros wants to stand and escape but Page is having none of it.

Page lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Boraros keeping moving, preventing Page from controlling successfully.
Boraros is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Page is controlling him.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Page working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Page controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Page changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Boraros looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

And that's the end of the fight!
Timothy Page showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Page, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
