The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chan moves into the clinch successfully.

Chan is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. Murakami gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Chan has picked Murakami up - he's going for a ride! Chan dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Murakami gets caught flat footed, as Chan shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Chan decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Murakami, up you get!

Chan gets control of Murakami's arms and successfully pulls guard. Chan will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Chan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Murakami's guard.

Murakami has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Chan is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Murakami.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Chan lands with a nice combination. Murakami backs away looking to recover.
Chan comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Murakami shoots and misses

and Chan counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Murakami moves into full guard.
Chan has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Chan drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Chan jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Murakami tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Chan counters with a nice double leg into side control. Murakami won't be happy with that.

Chan is trying to get an arm triangle but Murakami is defending well.
Murakami is not content to let Chan control the position.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Chan here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Murakami manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Murakami in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Chan tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Murakami!
