Coming up we have a welterweight kickboxing rules bout between James Blant (ranked 4787 p4p, 468 weight class) and Gavin McDonelu (ranked 8339 p4p, 608 weight class). Gavin McDonelu has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Steven Brown and William Gold.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McDonelu lands with a nice combination. Blant backs away looking to recover.
McDonelu showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Blant.
McDonelu looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
McDonelu connects with a leg kick. Blant looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Blant clinches.
The referee is keeping an eye on McDonelu - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Blant is trying to break the clinch but McDonelu is controlling him.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. McDonelu obliges.
Blant tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
McDonelu lands a hook that snaps the head of Blant backwards.
Blant has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Blant has had enough of the clinch but McDonelu keeps him there for the moment.
McDonelu lands a left hand.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. McDonelu obliges.
Blant is breathing heavily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

McDonelu's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

McDonelu moves into the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McDonelu lands a left hand.
McDonelu softening up his opponent with strikes, against the ropes.

McDonelu breaks the clinch.

McDonelu clips Blant with a right and a left that makes him do the chicken dance for a couple of seconds. He touched his left hand down on the canvas so the referee steps between the fighters to give Blant a standing 8 count before we can continue the bout.

It looks like James Blant has been cut.
Blant takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

McDonelu gets a clinch.

McDonelu escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

McDonelu has Blant up against the ropes in a clinch.
Blant takes an elbow to the temple.
McDonelu connects with a knee to the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from McDonelu, right into the meat.
McDonelu throws a quick inside leg kick.
McDonelu lands a leg kick that knocks Blant off balance momentarily.
Blant steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from McDonelu. That one must have hurt.

McDonelu moves into range and clinches up with Blant.

McDonelu with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.

McDonelu pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Blant has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by McDonelu.
McDonelu changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
McDonelu lands an uppercut.
McDonelu lands a knee to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Having scored a knockdown, Gavin McDonelu should take round 1, putting pressure on his opponene back strong in round 2.
The cut man is working on James Blant's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

McDonelu closes the distance and pushes Blant back into the ropes.
McDonelu manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
McDonelu lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
McDonelu lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Blant or not.

McDonelu breaks the clinch.
James Blant is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
McDonelu explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
McDonelu throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Blant's head.

McDonelu moves into range and clinches up with Blant.
McDonelu lands a left hand that snaps the head of Blant backwards.

McDonelu creates a bit of space and cracks Blant with an uppercut that drops him to the canvas! Blant is wobbled and seems to be struggling to get back to his feet. 3,4,5. He's up! Phew, his manager will be relieved but they're no doubt wondering whether he'll be able to recover properly and get back in the fight!

Blant is rocked!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Both fighters circle each other, looking for something big. McDonelu moves in and throws an overhand right. That hurt Blant! McDonelu continues to tee off on Blant, landing with a left and a right! McDonelu connects with a right hand that leaves Blant sleeping against the ropes! What a finish by McDonelu!
