Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Diego McTavish (ranked 6538 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Wanganeen (ranked 6930 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Diego McTavish!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Phil Wanganeen!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Donatello Bradman and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McTavish changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wanganeen tries to avoid it but McTavish manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wanganeen to the ground. Wanganeen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
McTavish prevents a takedown attempt there.
Wanganeen can't get the takedown.
Come on Wanganeen - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

McTavish is trying to trip Wanganeen. He has hold of a leg but Wanganeen is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. McTavish persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Wanganeen wriggles free and stands up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McTavish drives through and clinches with Wanganeen against the cage.

McTavish has picked Wanganeen up - he's going for a ride! McTavish dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

McTavish wants to free his trapped foot but Wanganeen is holding on for dear life with his legs.

McTavish wants to pass the guard but Wanganeen is keeping the position.

McTavish seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Wanganeen looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wanganeen has hold of McTavish's hands but McTavish slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
McTavish is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
McTavish wants to control but Wanganeen is keeping him busy.
Wanganeen wants to improve his position but McTavish is controlling well.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Wanganeen is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but McTavish pulls his head out easily.

McTavish working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


McTavish dives in for a single leg takedown but Wanganeen sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
McTavish is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wanganeen can do to turn this around?
McTavish shoots in for a takedown but Wanganeen shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Wanganeen tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but McTavish defends well and Wanganeen ends up having to push McTavish into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, McTavish cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

McTavish's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

McTavish lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Wanganeen is still in real trouble! Can McTavish finish him?
McTavish postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Wanganeen looks a forlorn figure.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
McTavish connects with a bit shot that sees Wanganeen covering up! More strikes from McTavish and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! McTavish is our winner by TKO!
