Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kaplan Temrezov (ranked 8175 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zhasulan Boranbayev (ranked 4994 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kaplan Temrezov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Zhasulan Boranbayev!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Vladimir Khabensky and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Boranbayev crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Temrezov - the referee stops the clock and Boranbayev gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Temrezov. Boranbayev manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
The fight stays on the outside here - Boranbayev looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Boranbayev avoids the body shot from Temrezov.
Temrezov has his takedown stuffed
and Boranbayev counters with a lovely straight right hand!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Boranbayev enables Temrezov to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Boranbayev manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Temrezov seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Boranbayev looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Temrezov has picked Boranbayev up and slammed him! Boranbayev can't keep hold of the triangle and Temrezov manages to pass to side control!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Boranbayev can do anything to dispel that myth.

A lull in the action here as Temrezov stalls from top position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Boranbayev wants to control but Temrezov postures up.
Boranbayev tries to buck Temrezov off but Temrezov is having none of it.
Temrezov scores with a couple of short elbows.
Boranbayev tries to bench press Temrezov off him but Temrezov keeps the position.
Temrezov wants to stand but Boranbayev is controlling his arm.

Boranbayev is looking for a sweep.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Temrezov darts in and clinches Boranbayev up against the cage.

Boranbayev goes for a takedown in the clinch but Temrezov prevents it.

Boranbayev digs a right hand into Temrezov's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Temrezov's gas tank.

Temrezov is trying to control Boranbayev's posture but Boranbayev avoids it.

Boranbayev takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Temrezov throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Boranbayev tries to clinch there but Temrezov circles away.
Boranbayev tries to close the distance and clinch up but Temrezov swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Boranbayev is looking to chop away at Temrezov's legs.
Boranbayev wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Boranbayev gets caught flat footed, as Temrezov shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Boranbayev is pulling down on Temrezov's head. It's preventing any offense from Temrezov, at least for the moment.

Temrezov wants to control from the top but Boranbayev keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Boranbayev looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Temrezov has picked Boranbayev up and slammed him! Boranbayev can't keep hold of the triangle and Temrezov manages to pass to side control!

Temrezov throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Boranbayev works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Kaplan Temrezov overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Boranbayev manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Temrezov keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Temrezov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Temrezov drives through and clinches with Boranbayev against the cage.

Temrezov manages to pull guard.
Boranbayev throws an elbow that misses. Temrezov uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Boranbayev's guard. Nice move by Temrezov!


Boranbayev working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Temrezov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Temrezov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Temrezov is trying to control. Boranbayev wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Boranbayev throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Boranbayev shoots in looking for a takedown. Temrezov tries to sprawl out of it but Boranbayev keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Temrezov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Temrezov is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Boranbayev can do to turn this around?
Boranbayev displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Temrezov.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Boranbayev pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Boranbayev shoots in looking for a takedown. Temrezov tries to sprawl out of it but Boranbayev keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Temrezov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Kaplan Temrezov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zhasulan Boranbayev.

Temrezov jumps guard but Boranbayev stands there with Temrezov around his waist. Temrezov gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Boranbayev gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Temrezov regains guard.

Boranbayev keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Temrezov's head.

Boranbayev not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Temrezov is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Zhasulan Boranbayev comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Temrezov has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
