The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hogg shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bashir as he avoids it easily.
Hogg tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bashir swivels and escapes.
Jared Hogg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bashir digs a good body shot into Hogg's ribs.
Bashir throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Hogg misses with a double jab
and Bashir counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Bashir throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Bashir lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Hogg shoots and misses
and Bashir counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jared Hogg. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hogg is breathing heavily.
Bashir scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.

enabling Bashir to counter with a crisp jab.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A jab-cross combination lands for Bashir and sends Hogg crashing to the mat! Bashir follows him down to the mat - Hogg regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!

Hogg is rocked!

It looks like Jared Hogg has been cut.
Bashir passes to full mount!
Oh Hogg is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Bashir is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Hogg can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Bashir unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Hogg wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Bashir celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
