Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kazuo Koizumi (ranked 5870 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Lewis (ranked 6118 p4p, 559 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kazuo Koizumi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steven Lewis!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Jonathan Paton and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Koizumi closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Koizumi lands in his opponent's guard.
Koizumi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lewis on the ground.
Koizumi throws a big elbow that misses.

Lewis is looking for a triangle but Koizumi pushes his legs off easily.

Koizumi closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Lewis pushes Koizumi away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Koizumi gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Koizumi is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Lewis defends it well.

and Koizumi counters with a low kick, right behind Lewis 's knee.

Lewis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Koizumi swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Lewis has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Koizumi is proving hard to escape from.

Well Lewis has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
