Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kermit Wilcox (ranked 7793 p4p, 0 weight class) and Xavier Morgan (ranked 5564 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kermit Wilcox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Xavier Morgan!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, John Mangel and Chris Dean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Morgan shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Morgan showed some decent athleticism there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wilcox moves into full guard.

Wilcox looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Morgan has picked Wilcox up and slammed him! Wilcox can't keep hold of the triangle and Morgan manages to pass to side control!

Morgan tries for a kimura but Wilcox is defending well.
Wilcox tries to buck Morgan off but Morgan is having none of it.

Morgan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Morgan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wilcox is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Morgan wants to pass the guard but Wilcox is defending well.

Wilcox wants to sweep but Morgan has passed to side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Morgan trying to control the position but Wilcox is working away.
Wilcox might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Morgan tries for a kimura but Wilcox is defending well.

Morgan thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Wilcox is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Morgan moves into full mount! Wilcox won't be happy about that!
Morgan prevents Wilcox from getting the reversal.
Morgan takes Wilcox's back.

Morgan is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Wilcox is defending well though. Morgan let's go of the attempt for now.
Wilcox tries to roll but Morgan sticks to his back.
Our spies down at at Cozad MMA Sydney inform us that Morgan has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Wilcox is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Morgan gets his way!

Wilcox is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Wilcox looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Morgan keeps control of the position as Wilcox tries to break free.
Wilcox manages to reverse the position and now he's in Morgan's guard. Nice work there by Wilcox.

Wilcox would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Morgan is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Wilcox wants to get up but he can't break Morgan's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Wilcox connects with a couple of short punches.
Morgan wants to sweep here but Wilcox controlling him for the moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Morgan tries to free his leg and advance position but Wilcox is retaining full guard.

Wilcox is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Morgan knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Morgan is breathing heavily.
Wilcox looks up at the clock and then as Morgan takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Wilcox smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Wilcox decides to stand back up. Wilcox steps back and let's Morgan get back to his feet.

Wilcox shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Wilcox was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Morgan can't do much from the bottom here.
Morgan sneaks back into half guard.
Wilcox content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Morgan is looking for a sweep. Wilcox is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Wilcox landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Wilcox scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Morgan is looking to control Wilcox's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Morgan avoid being mounted?
Wilcox lands strikes from half guard.
Wilcox wants to stand up but Morgan has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Wilcox winds up and cracks Morgan with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Wilcox looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Morgan decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Morgan is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Wilcox wants to improve his position but Morgan is controlling well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Morgan seems to be looking for submissions.
Morgan moves into full mount! Wilcox won't be happy about that!
Wilcox is wriggling around trying to escape.

Morgan goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Wilcox turns into him and now he's in Morgan's guard.
Morgan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Wilcox working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Morgan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Wilcox can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Wilcox drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Morgan dives on top into guard.


Morgan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Wilcox has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Morgan has managed to get both his arms back between Wilcox's legs - danger averted.

Morgan is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Wilcox has escaped the position, nice work there.
Morgan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wilcox keeps working.
Wilcox is looking for a sweep.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Morgan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Morgan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Wilcox gets back to half guard.
Morgan prevents Wilcox from improving his position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Morgan is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Morgan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wilcox swivels though and keeps the full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Xavier Morgan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Morgan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
