Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sergej Valentinovich (ranked 2377 p4p, 261 weight class) and Taras Shevchenko (ranked 1979 p4p, 231 weight class). Valentinovich's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Defeatist. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shevchenko looks to score with a jab to the body but Valentinovich is just out of range.
Valentinovich does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Shevchenko doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Shevchenko shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Shevchenko was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

That has opened up Taras Shevchenko's cut even more.
Shevchenko tries to close the distance and clinch but Valentinovich swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Shevchenko throws a hook but Valentinovich avoids it easily.
Shevchenko tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Valentinovich was well out of range. Poor timing from Shevchenko.
Valentinovich throws out a loose jab but Shevchenko uses good head movement to avoid it.

Shevchenko shoots for a double leg takedown but Valentinovich sprawls well. He's pushed Shevchenko's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
