The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newman jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.


It looks like Frank Lewis has been cut.
Lewis takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Newman lands with a straight right. Lewis didn't see that one coming.
Newman avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Newman appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
A lazy left from Lewis finds it's target.


It looks like Noobie Newman has been cut.

Lewis moves into range and clinches up with Newman.

Newman's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

It looked like Newman wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Newman's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Newman bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Lewis's head.

Newman is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lewis tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Newman counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Lewis doesn't manage to clinch there - Newman circles away.

Lewis wants to clinch.

Lewis throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Newman sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Frank Lewis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Newman lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Newman wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Lewis has him pressed against the cage.

Oh Newman is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lewis dips a shoulder and cracks Newman with a mighty uppercut! Newman falls back against the cage and Lewis unloads with a barrage of strikes! Newman is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Lewis screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Frank Lewis!
A relieved looking Frank Lewis thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
